Scholarship Information
Since 1997, the Spingarn Alumni Association, Inc. has awarded Spingarn HS and neighboring HS graduating students over $200,000 in scholarships. These scholarships were made possible through your help and with significant annual donations from Mr. Dave Bing, Mr. Ivan K. Brown, Mr. Frederick E. Jordan, Friends of Carol Holmes, the Classes of 1954, 1955, 1956, 1959, 1962, 1967, 1970 and contributions from the Dr. Purvis J. Williams Scholarship Fund and the Spingarn Alumni Association
General Scholarship Fund.
Although Spingarn Senior High School is currently closed, the Spingarn Alumni Association will continue (in compliance with its bylaws - Article II) to perform any act consistent with its purpose of providing scholarships for students and alumni who desire to attend college or to obtain vocational training or other forms of post-secondary education.
Academic Year
2022-2023 Scholarship Program
The Spingarn Alumni Association will award scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year. Since the program's inception, we've awarded almost $200,000 to more than 80+ students.
This Year's Scholarship Winners -
Leia Stephens, graduating from HD Woodson, Student Government President Leia has been accepted in the School of Design as a degree candidate for their Film and Moving Image Program, at Stevenson University, Ownings Mill, MD.
Aiden Williams, graduating from Phelps ACE, this student athlete will attend Norfolk State University, in Norfolk, VA where he will be majoring in Sports Medicine. His goal is to become a Physical Therapist.
Na’Khari Wood, Senior Class President at Phelps ACE High School, she will attend Kent State University in Kent, OH, where she will be pursuing a BA degree majoring in Fashion Design.
